The Healthier Greek Demme Matheos Finding Your Best Friend

Join us May 17th with Demme Matheos with her two new books

The Healthier Greek:

Not just a cookbook, but a step-by-step guide to healing your gut microbiome and finally taking control of your insulin resistance and diabetes, while eating great tasting food! Do you feel like all of your hard work at the gym never seems to match up with the results on your bathroom scale? Have you always thought ‘something must be wrong with me?’ I have felt that way all of my life! No doctor or medical practitioner had figured out why I struggled with my health.Raised in a Greek family, most of our social gatherings are always around food. If you have ever been to a Greek restaurant you know that the foods taste amazing and we pride ourselves on our cooking. In fact, you cannot go to a Greek’s house and NOT EAT!! They get very hurt. That is how I ended up at 330 pounds by 42 years old. Being brought up Greek in the 80’s and 90’s meant you ate dishes with loads of butter, crisco, salt, MSG, and white flour. The meats were high in fat content and many foods were fried in toxic oil. The desserts were high is sugar and there was a ton of bread. Well, at least, that’s how I grew up! In general, olive oil is our top ingredient in almost every dish and vegetable oil is commonly used for fried foods. The more I learned, the more I switched out for myself and my family. Then, about 3 years ago, I learned that olive oil becomes rancid when cooked on high heat. It becomes carcinogenic to our bodies, which means having the potential to grow our cancer cells. We all have those cells, keeping them from multiplying is the key to a long life. DO WE REALLY NEED EXTRA TOXINS THESE DAYS?I knew I had to do something if I wanted to change my health and the potential of my son’s health. I didn’t want family illnesses such as metabolic disorders, diabetes, and heart disease passed down to my son. I also wanted my husband and I to live a long and healthy life. I didn’t just want all of us to be healthy, I wanted us to feel healthy and look healthy FOREVER! So that is where this book comes in. You will love my crazy story! This book will empower you to own your own story. You will set up steps to reach your goals and each day you will start to make new habits that will make a difference for your life and your family. It's also a cookbook so enjoy the recipes!

FINDING YOUR BEST FRIEND aka:YOU: A raw, straight forward guide to trusting your gut and loving yourself!

Self-Love: What Does It Really Mean? For me self-love feels like a big hug around me saying, “I love you just the way you are today, not who you want to be next year or in 2 months. If you don’t work at loving yourself, you start to hate yourself. You forget that you even exist and you just don't do anything to bring yourself forward. What do you do to nurture yourself and what is getting in YOUR way?Author Demme Matheos found her best friend at age 50. In this book Demme shares a shortcut to finding YOU. She teaches you how to get out of your own way, to love yourself and how to keep from over complicating things. Her motto is: Just start now. Where you are at this moment. Stay consistent even when things go crazy. Know that you are not alone because you have you! That way, you’ll never be alone. Go have fun! Go for your dreams and get rid of things that don’t serve you.BioThis book has been on my mind for a few years now. Looking back at the past I noticed that I had some really extraordinary friends and even if we had drifted in and out of each other's lives, we were able to pick up right where we had left off. I long to support young girls in understanding themselves and how they see themselves. I don’t want them to have to go through the torture I have put myself through: Not accepting my body and believing what others said as to how I ‘should’ look, feel or behave. I want all women to know that it’s okay to have an opinion and that they do have choices available as to how they want their life to be.
